Choosing Plush Toys For A Baby: 4 Tips

About Me
Creating A Business You Can Count On

When I started thinking about ways to make my children's lives better, I realized that I had to create something they could count on financially for the long haul. I started thinking about creating a business, and I felt really great about it. I started working with other people to think of a concept that would work for the local community, and it was powerful to develop an idea regarding a business that met other people's needs. Although I am still not a business owner, I decided to make this blog to help other people develop their own ideas about starting a company and a business that works for their lifestyle and financial needs.

Choosing Plush Toys For A Baby: 4 Tips

Babies and young children seem to love plush toys. The toys give them something to grab onto and snuggle for security, and as they grow older, they can play games of make-believe in which they treat the toys like children or pets. While choosing a plush toy may seem simple, there are actually some intricacies involved — especially considering the market is now flooded with thousands of plushes! Here are a few tips to help you choose the best plush toy for a baby.

1. Make Sure the Toy Does Not Have Removable Parts.

Plastic button eyes, metal noses, and red plastic mouths may look cute, but can also present a safety hazard. If your baby removes them either by chewing or by playing with them, the baby could swallow them and choke. The best plush toys for babies do not have any glued-on or sewn-on parts or pieces. The eyes, nose, mouth, and other embellishments are often just different colored material or threads on these types of plush toys.

2. Make Sure the Toy Is Lightweight.

Parents should ideally not be leaving their baby with a plush toy in the crib, but every parent gets forgetful every once in a while. If the baby does end up being left alone with the plush toy, you want to ensure that the toy is lightweight enough that the baby is able to push it off themselves, as they could suffocate under a heavier toy.

3. Look for Washable Material.

The plush toy will get dirty. Your child will chew on it, and it will start to smell like milk and saliva. They may drop it on the ground, getting it contaminated with all sorts of other things. Being able to wash the toy is paramount. Look for one that you can launder in warm water with mild detergent from time to time to get rid of bacteria, dirt, and odors.

4. Avoid Ribbons and Strings.

Plush toys that have ribbons around their neck or strings attached to their bellies are not smart choices for babies. If these strings become unattached, they could wrap around your baby's neck or even their wrist, causing injuries. Shorter strings could become detached and be swallowed.

Follow the tips above when choosing a plush toy for a baby. With so many toys on the market, you should have a big selection of toys to choose from that are safe, washable, and attractive to your little one.
